Chapter Achievements
One thing that unites us under the big tent of democratic socialism is the core desire to change material conditions through community organizing. Check out some of our chapter wins and other activities through our collective organizing and labor power in the Triangle!
- 2016: Chapter incorporation as NC Piedmont DSA
- 2018: Piedmont DSA becomes NC Triangle DSA, departure of Greensboro & Winston-Salem
- 2020: NCTDSA Launches its COVID Mutual Aid Fund, succeeds as the second largest such fund in the country
- 2021: The first NCTDSA-endorsed elected official, Danny Nowell, is elected to the Carrboro town council
- 2022: Mary Black, NCTDSA-endorsed elected official, is successfully elected to Raleigh City Council representing District A
- 2023: Groundwork and petitioning by NCTDSA in Carborro results in the expansion of the Bolin Creek Greenway
- 2023: Nate Baker, a NCTDSA-endorsed elected official, is elected to the Durham town council
- 2024: NCTDSA Ecosocialism’s Free-Fare Forever project motivates Raleigh City Council to suspend bus fares through 2024 and Durham Town Council for both 2024 and 2025
- 2024: NCTDSA’s Queer and Trans Solidarity (QTS) Working Group’s efforts succeed in including the Name Change Fund in Durham’s proposed budget for 2024
- 2024: NCTDSA organizes to provide mutual aid to Asheville and the surrounding regions following Hurricane Helene
- 2025: NCTDSA wins its campaign against the fake clinic, Gateway Women’s Center Care of Raleigh, through its removal from the community as part of the Abort Fake Clinics Campaign
- 2025: NCTDSA wins its campaign against Bean Traders as part of No Appetite for Apartheid Campaign (NA4A)
